Peter John Pasanen

Peter is the cherished husband of Dorothy Kay Pasanen. He is the devoted father of Kirsten and her husband Paul Nestro of Trumbull, CT; John and his wife Wendy Pasanen of Acworth, GA; and Amy and her husband John Manzo of Shelby Township, MI. Proud grandfather of Olivia, Nicholas, and Chloe Nestro; Hannah, Zachary, and Tyler Pasanen; Emerson, Nathan, Fiona, and Milania Manzo. Loving uncle of Tracy Stebbins Arnett and her husband Brian Arnett.

Peter was born on May 31, 1940, in Detroit, son of the late John Arvid & Irma Adele (Coles) Pasanen, brother of the late Judy Stebbins. He graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit then joined the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Yorktown. Following his service to his country, Peter became a Sales Executive, rising to the ranks of Regional Vice President, employed by Fortune 500 companies selling health and beauty aids.

Peter was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. His love and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. Peter was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Rochester, MI, where he was a Stephen Minister and served as an usher for over 40 years. Peter instilled the values of God, family, and country in his children and grandchildren. Most at home on the water, Peter passed on his love of the Great Lakes, beaches, and boating to every member of his family. Peter was a sports fan of all teams in Michigan, both at the collegiate and professional level. In 1978, he co-founded the Rochester Youth Soccer League.

The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023, 11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church, 1011 W. University Drive in Rochester, Pastor Marc Schwichtenberg officiating. Interment immediately following the service at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd. in Holly.

The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund.
