Robert was born the son of Patrick and Catherine (Franich) Conley in Whiting, Indiana on April 26, 1935. He graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Indiana, class of 1953 and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. Joseph's College. Robert served stateside in the US Army. He married Millicent Ann Reffelt on October 11th, 1958, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer, Indiana. Robert and Millicent started their family in Chicago before moving to Rochester Hills. Robert had a career as the international sales manager for an agriculture chemical company. He was a member of the Fostoria Glass Society of America and Great Lakes Depression Glass Collectors Club.
Robert loved his family. He collected paintings and American crystal. Robert enjoyed traveling internationally all around Europe and his favorite destination, Jamaica.
Robert is survived by his children Michael (Susan) Conley and Michelle (Jeffrey) Sugg; grandchildren Bronwyn (Hunter) Critchfield and Jennifer Sugg; great-granddaughter Millicent Critchfield; and brother Patrick Conley. Robert is predeceased by his wife; his parents; and his son Mark Conley.
Robert’s family will welcome all to visitation on Friday August 9th, 2024 from 4 - 8 pm and on Saturday August 10th from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan. Interment will follow at Christian Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rochester Hills.
