He was born in Rochester on December 7, 1928. He was married to the love of his life Betty Lou Schulert.
Roy had a long and successful career in residential building with Rathka Building and Construction Inc. He was passionate about his family, hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter JoAnn P. Walters (Gary), his son Tim Rathka, grandchildren Stacey Peterson, and Randy Peterson Jr., his great grandchildren, Samantha Davis, Katie Davis, Ashley Davis, and George Matthew Nyquist, his sister Catherine E. Patterson, and brother Raymond Rathka.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Joyce Elliott and Barbara King, and his brother Robert Rathka.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 3-6 PM at Pixley Funeral Home, 3222 W. University Dr., Rochester, MI 48307. The service will take place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 11:30 AM with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM.
Burial will follow at Mt. Avon Cemetery.
