Sandy was such a lovely lady with a beautiful personality.   I had the opportunity to work with her for almost 4 years at Davenport University under her leadership at the Warren Campus.  She was so generous and kind.   May God continue  to bless the entire family.

The service was lovely,  and so many fun memories came up.  Sandy was funny and we laughed so much.   I forgot she was amazed when I chose a chocolate from a box without the map, and knew what flavor it was!!!!  That was hysterical,  she called people into her office to see me do this,  that fun,  joyous spirit we'll remember. Xoxoxo

Also her pride in Jessica; , their house was being inspected, and the inspectors would flush every toilet,  and Jess was on tour with them about 3,  and kept saying " you're not supposed to waste water!!!"

My deepest condolenses. I will miss her so much. We've  had hundreds  of lunches in the last 40 years,and in my heart I will  continue.

This was a cruise I was so lucky to go on and Sandy had me doing things out of my norm!

In Loving Memory of Sandy

All our sympathy and love go out to everyone who knew and cherished Sandy. Her passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her spirit and kindness continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

When Sandy was employed at Davenport University, she was far more than just the person in charge-she was a friend, a mentor, and a source of strength. Her leadership was not defined by authority, but by compassion. She inspired those around her, not just to work harder, but to believe in themselves. She nurtured growth, encouraged dreams, and created a workplace where people felt seen, heard, and valued.

Sandy had a gift for making people feel like they mattered. Her door was always open, her heart always generous. Whether it was a word of encouragement, a listening ear, or a warm smile, Sandy gave freely and sincerely. She made work feel like home.

We're deeply sorry that her time with us was cut short. The loss is profound, but so is the gratitude we feel for having known her. Sandy will never be forgotten. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the friendships she built, and the love she gave.

Thank you, Sandy, for everything. You were truly one of a kind.

Sandy came into my life when I was facing a major change. I had just lost my father. I was looking for an outlet to fill the void and she hired me at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts. I never met anyone like her. She was a force. Her non-stop energy, her optimism, her ability to laugh at herself; her strength. She was a fierce warrior in many ways, especially for those she loved. We became quick friends. There are people who teach you just by being themselves. That was Sandy. She taught me not to take myself too seriously. To play more and laugh often. She loved deeply and unabashedly. She was a good friend and I will miss her in my life. I hope you find comfort in her beautiful spirit and the love she leaves in each of our hearts. I don’t know where we go when we leave this world, but if I have my wish Sandy is surrounded by all her love ones, telling her stories, making her crazy faces and celebrating. Though deeply missed by us, I hope she is celebrating with all the joy in her heart for a life well lived.  I will miss you dear friend, but am forever grateful to have known you …

I met Sandy when she was my boss at the Macomb Center—Best boss I ever had! I’m so glad we stayed in touch and even developed a close friendship. We’d talk on the phone for hours and just laugh & laugh. I use to tell her, “Sandy, I could sit in a room with 4 walls with you and have a great time.  We wouldn’t even need to go anywhere!” God, I miss her! Sandy saw me through my darkest days and made them brighter. She always had an ear for me and words of wisdom. She gave the best advice. She had the best stories too. So much so that we once said we needed to put them in a book so that the whole world could enjoy them.  She was so interesting, so fun and so lovely.  She will never be forgotten and forever missed & loved.

This is always how I'll remember Sandy:  as a fun loving Freshman ready for anything. You were quite a bright spark. The world's a bit dimmer now. 

I'm glad we were friends and kept in touch for over 40 years. Rest Dear.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I met Sandy through Lisa Hovey, when I was in high school. While we haven't seen each other in a very long time, I have fond memories of the times we spent at Lisa's laughing all day.

Jessica so very sorry for your loss. Your mom worked for me at Stratford Manor Condos. We became friends and shared a few dinners together at her and Curtis home. May she rest in peace. I pray your grandpa is ok. Let me know if he needs any help. I do care giving and would be honored to help him out.
I remember how excited Sandy was when your 1st born came along and she and Curtis got to help you with her. May you live with the good memories.

In Loving Memory of Sandy Mars
Sandy had a quiet grace, the kind that made you feel seen with just a wave from across the yard. Our homes touched, and so did our lives—through conversations about her beloved grandchildren, through her joy at the birth of my own granddaughter, and through the simple pleasure of watching birds and sunsets.
The sunset I hold onto isn’t from today, but it’s one Sandy would have seen too. The sky was ablaze with reds and oranges, a kind of brilliance that feels like a whisper from beyond. I like to think she’s watching from the other side now, still enjoying the view, still sending warmth our way.
Her absence leaves a hush in the neighborhood, but her love and light linger. May this sunset bring comfort to all who miss her, a reminder that beauty endures—and so does the love she gave so freely. Rest in peace, Sandy.

I am so sorry Sandy is gone from you--- way too soon.  I will always remember her signature smile and voice that strongly resembled Aunt Judy.  Sandy was so good to come back to WI with Uncle John.  I always enjoyed those times together.
