Jan was born on May 17, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan to Dr. Edgar J. and Beverly Geist. She grew up in Rochester, where she attended Rochester Senior High School, graduating with the class of 1968. She attended Michigan State University for a short period of time.
On September 27, 1981, Jan married the love of her life, Chris Olsen. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Their greatest joy was their daughter, Katie. Jan was a devoted mother who found immense happiness being actively involved in Katie's education, often helping with school plays, talent shows, and various projects. Jan was known for her creativity, whether she was crafting or baking her famous red velvet cake.
Jan is survived by her loving husband Chris, her daughter, Katie (Matthew) Moye, her sister Julie Geist, and her brothers Jason (Jean) Geist and John (Claudia) Geist. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Kim Geist and brother Jeff Geist.
A memorial service to celebrate Jan's life will be held on September 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at the Faith Presbyterian Church located at 160 W. Hamlin Rd., Rochester Hills, Mi.
