Walter Frank Seifert

Walter was born the son of Walter and Jessie (Cresswell) Seifert in Denver, Colorado on July 22, 1929. He graduated from East High School in Denver and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado. He married Dorothy Jean McMillan on September 12, 1950 in Laramie Wyoming. Walter worked as a chemical engineer for Continental Oil and moved his family several times until 1960 when they moved to Midland and he began work at Dow Chemical. Walter retired from Dow at age 64.

Walter was a 32nd degree Mason with the Saginaw Masonic Lodge and longtime member of the Midland Country Club. He was a former member of the Grace A Dow Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Walter is survived by his sons Jeffrey (Cheryl), Gary (Judith), and Glenn (Tamara) Seifert; grandchildren Jason, Catherine, James, Drew, Melissa, Taylor, Drew, Benjamin, and Joshua; six great-grandchildren; his sister Marion Hawley; niece Lonnise Gilley; and nephew Mark Seifert. Walter was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2010, his son Christopher in 2005, and his twin brother William.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 19th at 11 a.m. The family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made in Walter’s honor to the North Oakland Family YMCA at 3378 E. Walton Blvd., Auburn Hills Michigan 48326.
