Waultina, Tina to friends and family, was born in Manchester, TN, on September 9, 1927. She graduated from Manchester High School as Solutitorian in 1945. After graduation, she attended secretarial school in Nashville, TN, completing her coursework in one year, earning her certificate. During WWII she served in the office of Camp Forest, a US military base that housed 20,000 German prisoners. Following the war, she married John Robert Davis – the boy across the street – after his return from tour of duty. They were wed in 1947, relocating to Detroit, MI, in order to find employment.
In 1953 they settled in their house on Seminole where Tina resided for the next 67 years. There they raised their children: Debbie, and twins, Jill and John. They were excited to have Tina’s brother Rex and his wife Margie and their family living across the street. Tina appreciated neighborhood life, spending time with family and friends, attending church, and teaching Sunday School.
In 1982 Tina suffered the shocking loss of her husband John. As a relatively young widow also facing an empty nest, she adapted to her new life. Taking a job at Garden Towers Retirement Community, Tina became an allstar employee, quickly advancing to the position of Property Manager. She loved caring for her elderly residents. In her retirement years, Tina spent time with her growing family, adding grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She continued to enjoy the bowling league, the pinochle club, and her gardens, especially her roses. Tina spent her final years at Walton Wood Senior Community, in Rochester, MI, receiving excellent care and making many friends among the staff.
Tina’s entire life was marked by a deep faith and commitment to her Savior, Jesus Christ. She leaves behind her children: Debbie (Bob) Zeeb, Jill (Chris) Keeney, and John (Gaylene) Davis. Also survived by Grandchildren: Tim Zeeb, Jennie Zeeb, Laura (Mike) Shamblaw, Christopher (Rachel) Keeney, Andrew (Jessia) Keeney, Woody (Amory) Davis, and Dwight (Amanda) Davis; and Great-Grandchildren: Chase Foltz, Brooklynn Shamblaw, Carter Shamblaw, Brady Shamblaw, Zaylee Keeney, Malachi Keeney, and Oliver Keeney; and Sister-in-law Margie Philpott. Charitable donations in Tina’s honor may be made to The Salvation Army.
