

Beverly M. Shroads, 81, of New Brighton, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at her residence. She was born June 25, 1932 in Evans City, daughter of the late Eric and Mae (Cowen) Peterson. Beverly was a graduate of Rochester High School, Class of 1950. She was a retired administrative assistant with the Knighthawk Security Company with 30 years of service.
Beverly was first and foremost all about her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and was an ardent fan of her daughter-in-law Beth’s karaoke performances at the Monaca PNA Club. Beverly loved to dress-up for an evening out listening to music and dancing. She had a variety of interests and hobbies but thoroughly enjoyed playing cards with the members of her 500 Bid Card Club. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Beverly was keen at listening and proficient at taking shorthand. She never missed a detail. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rochester.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years: Robert Shroads on July 5, 2003; her daughter: Cynthia Shroads in 2007; and her grandson: Bradley Finney in 1986.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: Steven (Beth) Shroads, East Liverpool, OH; Scott Shroads, New Brighton; four daughters and sons-in-law: Lynda Shroads, Magnolia, TX; Cary (Drew) Hogan, Butler, PA; Robin Knapper, New Brighton; Shelley (Angelo) Greco, New Brighton; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law: Les (Sandra) Peterson, Largo, FL; her sister: Darlene Stormfels, Monaca; 3 nieces and 2 nephews and extended family and many friends.
Friends will be received Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday in the funeral home with Rev. Gregory Clagg, officiating. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
