
Geraldine “Gerri” Duke, 87, of Center Township, a recent resident of the Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Heritage Valley Hospital, Beaver. She was born January 8, 1928 in Cowger, WV, daughter of the late Roosevelt Guy and Thelma (Carpenter) Gum. Known by family and friends as Gerri, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse who worked at the former Aliquippa Hospital for a number of years. In her early years, Gerri enjoyed bowling and crocheting. She was an avid wrestling fan from the beginning days of the WWF to the current WWE.
In addition to her parents, Gerri was preceded in death by her husband: Eugene Duke on December 1, 2003; four brothers: Elbert, Glenvile, Ronald and one in infancy; and also her sister: Glenora known as “Tickle”.
Gerri is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Roger and Cathy Duke, Chester, WV; Ricky and Christine Duke, Raccoon Township; three grandchildren: Heather Allison and her husband Jeremy, Georgetown, PA; Taylor Duke, Raccoon Township; Casey O’Hare, Washington, PA; seven great grandchildren: Gary Alan; Johnathan; Dalton; Breanna; Julieann; Christina and Hayden; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Clifford and Patty Gum, Hacker Valley, WV; Donald and Linda Gum, Hacker Valley, WV; one sister; Nola Woods, Akron, OH; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 3 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2015 in the funeral home with Pastor Tom Fletcher, officiating. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
