James H. Romigh, age 94, of Monaca, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022. He was born August 3, 1927, in East Rochester, son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Whittle) Romigh. James proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired in 1979 from St. Joe Lead after 33 years of service; and from Spectrum Mechanical with 10 years of service.
James was a member of the Monaca American Legion Post #580; the Monaca Sportsman's Club; the Monaca Turners, the Fourth Ward Volunteer Fire Department; and the Monaca-Center Masonic Lodge #791.
He was a skilled woodwork craftsman and also enjoyed painting. His favorite scenes are those that included trains and our national bird, the American Bald Eagle. As a father, James was always supportive and involved in family life. When the boys were young, and they were living in Vanport, he served as a Cub and Boy Scout Leader. He and Ruth were inseparable. They loved to camp and travel together. Beautiful summer evenings were often spent together on the front porch swing, waving to friends and neighbors as they drove by.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Virginia Ruth (Smith) Romigh, who passed on February 11, 2017; three sisters: Erma Romigh; Dorothy Montgomery; Mary Jane Romigh; and one brother: Charles Romigh, Jr.
James is survived by two sons: Ronald and Donald Romigh; and one daughter: Carol Romigh. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece; Kathy Hamblin and her husband Melvin.
In honor of his wishes, private services are entrusted to the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Following cremation his remains will be placed in the Romigh Family Bench Estate in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
