

Lloyd J. Sheeler, Sr., 91 of New Galilee, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Lloyd was born August 26, 1919 in Darlington. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Russell Trucking where he had been a diesel mechanic. Lloyd was a member of the New Galilean Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings and his wife: Lois (Inman) Sheeler on March 1, 2008.
He is survived by one son: Lloyd “Jay” Sheeler, Jr., New Galilee; two daughters and a son-in-law: Bonita “Bonnie” Bertko, New Galilee; Rebecca “Becky” and Richard Duraney, Rochester; seven grandchildren: David (Mary) Bertko; Debbie (Quincy) Townsell; Eric (Bridget) Bertko; Jacob (Amy) Duraney; Joshua Duraney and his fiancée Kristin Kibler; Jonathan Duraney and his fiancée Stephanie Kibler; Elizabeth “Lizzie” Sheeler; eleven great grandchildren: Patricia and her husband Christopher; Adam and his fiancée Hailey (who provided wonderful compassionate care for Pap); Bryan; Peyton; Katie; Kenny; Terrance; Angelica; Dresden; Meadow and Daisy; two great great grandchildren: Haylee and Kristopher; many other extended family members and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Members of the Veterans’ Honor Guard will present full Military Honors immediately following the visitation at 10:30 a.m.; and The Reverend C.F. Hoffman, his pastor, will officiate a service after Military Honors. Private entombment will be in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
