

Margaret Paton, 90, of Beaver, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, August 21, 2015. She was born April 18, 1925 in Scranton, PA, daughter of the late William Patrick and Mary (O’Connor) Devanney, both of Irish descent. Her father was training at a Scranton Boxing Camp for a boxing match to be held at Madison Square Garden. From birth to age 8 she lived with her family in various parts of the United States. The family then moved to Scotland where she lived until the age of 29. In 1955 she emigrated to the United States; and on the 27th of August, she married Stewart Hunter Paton in Washington D.C. They raised their family in Weirton, WV until 1965, relocated to Beaver and finally to Georgia on May 30, 2015.
Margaret was a member of the Beaver Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as the Mother Advisor to Beaver Assembly Chapter #37, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She was a Prim player for the Sevdah Adult Tamburitzan Orchestra, Conway and the costume mistress and secretary for the New Brighton Jr. Tamburitzans.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded by two sons: Henry James Paton at birth in 1964; Steward David Paton in 2012; two brothers: William Devanney, Jr. in 1996 and Henry Devanney in 2015; her sister: Mary Devanney Barclay in 1975.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband: Stewart Hunter Paton, formerly of Beaver, now residing in Marietta, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law: Christine Marie Paton Holt (Laurence David Holt), Marietta, GA; Patricia Joan Matthews (Donald Matthews), Pittsburgh, PA; her sister: Francis Devanney Morton, Motherwell, Scotland; three step-grandsons: Christian, Alexander and Nicholas Hold, Marietta, GA; one step-granddaughter: Jessie Mathews Hoagland, Port Charlotte, FL.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester, (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at SS Peter and Paul Parish, 200 3rd Street, Beaver, with committal prayers to follow in the Chapel of the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum . The public is kindly asked to gather at the church on Saturday morning.
