Mildred Loretta Ruckert, 99, a life-long resident of New Sewickley Township, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2018, while under the compassionate care of Mother Teresa Hospice, and surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 10, 1918, daughter of the late Oscar and Marie Matilda (Householder) Durr. Mildred was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Having a husband and eight children, she was a steady and nurturing presence in the home. Mildred was dedicated to her family and her faith. A member of New Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Economy Borough, she was active in the Altar Guild and WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America).
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded by her husband: Frederick H. Ruckert in 1988; grandson: Martin Michael Ruckert; granddaughter: Deborah Hathaway; great granddaughter: Olivia Hathaway; two brothers: Roy Durr and Melvin Durr.
Mildred is survived by eight children and their spouses: Raymond W. (Mary) Durr, Frederick W. Ruckert, Ronald L. (Judith) Ruckert, Harold D. (Ruth) Ruckert, Roberta M. (David) Herrington, Janet (Anthony) Fishovitz, Bruce E. Ruckert and Duane H. Ruckert; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; her sister: Marie Humbert; two sisters-in-law: Mary Bernard and Betsy Ruckert; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Friends will be received Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 3 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the New Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Second Avenue, Freedom (Economy Borough) with her funeral service to begin at 11 a.m., Rev. Martin Galbraith, officiating. Private interment will follow in the Garden of the Resurrection, Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
