William J. “Bill” Viscuso, 65, of North Sewickley Township, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 10, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 23, 1948 in Rochester, son of the late William C. and Jeana (Faranacci) Viscuso. Known as Bill by family and friends, he retired as a crane operator from Operating Engineers Local #66.
Bill was a man who loved the Lord with all of his heart and had a genuine passion for sharing the message of God’s saving grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It was a salvation that he personally received by faith and was committed to telling others the good news. He was also a gifted musician who could play the guitar and inspirationally sing old gospel favorites. Through the years, Bill always made certain that wherever he worshiped, he faithfully supported the ministry of the Church. He was a member of Sylvania Hills Baptist Church, Rochester.
With Christ first in his life, it was easy and natural for Bill to love his family. He cherished his loving wife of 44 years, their children and grandchildren. With a refreshing sense of humor, his family simply referred to Bill as the funniest man in Pennsylvania. Spending time with his family creating lasting memories was important to Bill. His loving heart would melt at the sight of watching his grandkids play in the yard and excitingly call out to him, “Papa”.
Bill is survived by his wife: Barbara (Kraly) Viscuso; three sons and daughters-in-law: William C. and Jessica Viscuso, II, of Raccoon Township; Daniel and Jodi Viscuso, North Sewickley Township; Nathan and Heather Viscuso, Baden; two daughters and a son-in-law: Marlo Erdman, Corry, PA; Jeana and Jeremy Powell, New Sewickley Township; 15 grandchildren: Zak, Hannah, Kathryn and Rebekah Erdman; Isabella, Micah, twins Emma and Gianna, twins William Jesse and Vincent Viscuso; Adriana and Daniel Jr., Viscuso; Jeremy, Haley, and Carly Powell; his sister and brother-in-law: Judy and George “Meatball” Vucinich, Brighton Township; as well as, Brothers-in-law, Sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins, all who cared deeply for Bill.
Friends will be received Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. in the Sylvania Hills Baptist Church, 567 Pittsburgh Road, Rochester, PA 15074 with The Reverend Michael Bailey, officiating. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of DCI Clinic, Chippewa and to all of the staff on the 5th Floor of Allegheny General Hospital for the kind and compassionate care. During his long illness, Bill developed such meaningful relationships with them, it was said of Bill by them, “When we are young, our heroes are often people involved in sports. In adulthood, a man of faith like Bill, who lived each day with a testimony of grace, consistently concerned about others above himself…Bill was a real and true hero to us.”
“Dad, we will always miss you and love you forever”.
