Delmar L. “Laddie” Espy, 72, of Rockford, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Laddie was born on February 9, 1939 in Centerville, IA, the son of Delmar and Ione Espy. He married Petra Melau in Rockford, in 1956. He spent most of his life working for, managing and later owning Chuck & Bob’s Automotive on Kishwaukee Street. Laddie was a lifelong member of the Eagles Club # 392, LLL Club in Rockford, Lithuanian Club in Rockford, and the Moose Club in Belvidere. He really enjoyed Fishing and Golfing. Left to share in his memory, his wife of 54 years, Petra Espy of Rockford, his children; Sheryl (Jeff) Pontius of Fl, William “Laddie” (Toni) Espy of Rockford, grandson, Jason Espy of Rockford, 4 brothers; Larry (Charlotte), Lanny (Margaret), Paul Edward (Shirley), and Randall Espy, as well as several nieces and nephews. Delmar is preceded in death by his parents, sister Marjorie Ann “Annie” Johnson, and John Richard Espy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, at 10 a.m. at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 7000 W. State St. Rockford, IL 61102. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Rev. Ron Meyer will officiate the services. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name may be made to the Heart Fund, Muscular Dystrophy, or the Parkinson’s Foundation. www.mem.com
