Doris Laverne Miller, age 94, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was born on December 15, 1930 in Cement, Oklahoma to Rollie and Bertha Ely. She was raised in Oklahoma and after graduating high school she came to Rockford, where she met Robert and they married on June 23, 1951 in Newport News, Virginia where he was stationed in the army.
Doris worked at Amerock for 32 years in both the office and the factory, she was a hard worker and a loving and caring person. She was a caregiver for many years after retirement. She loved to crochet afghans for everyone in the family. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She is survived by her children, Sherry (Richard) Anderson and Robert (Donna) Miller; grandchildren, Jared (Kelley) and Corissa (Holly) and honorary granddaughter, Alexus; and great-grandchildren, Avery, Brooke, Hunter, and Skylar.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert Miller; son, Russell; parents, Rollie and Bertha Ely; and siblings, Leslie, Leon, Curtis, Pauline, and Margaret.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00 am in Willwood Burial Park, 7000 W State St, Rockford, IL 61102.
