

Edward J. Phillips, 88, of Rockford passed away Saturday September 3, 2022 at St. Anne Center. Edward was born on November 4, 1933 in Dante, VA; the son of Frank and Mazella (Kilgore) Phillips. He married Peggy Jean Salyer in 1955. Edward was an excellent Tool and Die Maker, working for National Lock and then Reg-Ellen; he also owned and operated two gas stations: Harrison Ave Sonoco and Skelly on 11th Street. Edward was a member of the Eagle’s Club. Edward was a very kind man that always put others before himself, he was a humble man that enjoyed playing his electric guitar and singing with his wife Peggy. He loved spending time with his family.
Edward is survived by his wife Peggy; son: Edward J. Phillips, Jr.; daughter: Terese Phillips-Voll; grandchildren: Elisa Phillips(Eric Antonucci) and Bruce Phillips; great-grandchildren: Levi Andrew Jones and Jackson Edward Antonucci; brother: Roger (Maryann) Phillips; sisters: Lois (Don) Dabbs and Carol (Doug) Ramsey; several nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation for Edward will be Friday September 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 West State Street in Rockford; a service to celebrate Edward’s life will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Willwood Cemetery.
