Florence Elaine Stahl Monk passed away after a brief illness on December 16, 2022. She was born on April 12, 1923, in Nekoosa, Wisconsin to her parents, William and Mary (Novak) Dobrick. She grew up on a farm and learned the value of hard work and making the most of life from an early age. She loved life, always had a positive outlook, never spoke ill of anyone and was a role model for how to survive difficult and challenging times with a smile and a grateful heart. Florence had a deep faith in God and in his son Jesus Christ. She was loved by all who knew her.
Florence married Howard Stahl on December 21, 1945 and together they were blessed with 5 children. He died on January 27, 1972. She married her current husband Charles Monk on February 2, 1974 and gained two step-daughters.
Florence (Flo, Sis) is survived by her husband Charles, children, Linda Sherer (Steve), Ed Stahl, Eileen Andrews (George), Clayton Stahl, Dale Stahl (Cece), Linda Spinker, Debbie Eickstead (Tim), 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several beloved nieces and nephews and many treasured friends.
Predeceased by her parents, first husband Howard Stahl, 3 sisters: Louise Houghton, Doris Geiger and Irene Dobrick, 3 brothers: William (Bill) Dobrick, Ted Dobrick, and John Dobrick, grandson Tiler Smith, nephews Chuck Stahl and Wayne Stahl, and nieces Charlotte Pratt and Barb Hogan.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2001 N. Alpine Rd, Rockford, IL. Visitation will be at 10AM with the funeral service at 11:00. Luncheon will follow the service. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL will follow the luncheon. All those attending the funeral are asked to wear a mask and follow covid protocol due to the high rate of covid and influenza in the area.
