

Fulmer Russell Morgan, "Russ,” 102 years, died on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the home of his daughter. He was born November 15, 1914 in Rockford, son of Fulmer Rendle and Vera B. Morgan. He married Mary Louise Legge on August 31, 1940. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle and friend.
Russ was a member of First Presbyterian Church all his adult life, and as a child attended Winnebago Street Methodist Church and then Grace Methodist Church. He was a 73-year member of the Masons. Russ was a lifelong Rockford resident and proud that his ancestors (Morgans, Mutimers, and Nashes) were early pioneers to the Rockford area.
Russell was a machinist at Woodward Governor Company for 38 years. Prior to Woodward, he was a paperboy for the Rockford Morning Star, and also worked at Nelson Knitting Factory and Andrew Wireworks (Washburn) . He served in the Illinois State Guard during World War II. Russ built his own home and had hobbies of stamp collecting and gardening. After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking crafts, which he and his wife made. In addition to traveling through 48 states and Canada, for many years he had a cottage at Lake Mills, Wisconsin where he took his family vacationing.
Survivors include son R. Douglas (Janet) Morgan; daughters Sandra L. (David) Anderson and Barbara J. (Brian) McConnell; grandchildren Jennifer (Dan) Becwar, Millie (Mike) Uppena, Mary (Brent) Sheckler, Anne (Beau) Buchs, Mark (Denise) Anderson, Scott (Dawn) Anderson, Bruce (Christy) Anderson and Bryce Cassel; 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, special nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his wife Mary Louise; his parents; his sister Winnette; his brother A.Rendle ,"Pete;" and also his loving dog, Heather.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Second Congregational UCC/First Presbyterian Church, 318 N Church St, Rockford, IL 61101. There will be a visitation from 10:45 until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Russell's family for a special cemetery memorial that Russ and Mary Lou desired. Advantage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
