George (Buddy) Duncan, of Rockford, was born 10/25/32 in Phil Campbell, AL, to George & Lillie (Woodard) Duncan. George was a proud Korean War veteran serving as a gunner in the US Air Force, 13th Bomb Squadron. He was a devoted husband to Nancy for 58 years & a very proud father, grand & great-grandfather. He was firm but fair, teaching his family that "can't" & "quit" were not options. George worked as a plasterer, then as a supervisor at Sundstrand until retirement. Believing that life was best lived outside; he loved gardening, growing, grilling and mowing. He & Nancy spent hours sitting outside waving to & chatting with neighbors. George loved cooking breakfast: biscuits, dried beef gravy, & his famous flitters, a grandchild favorite. He was an expert at telling cheesy jokes, loved playing cribbage, collecting coins, watching football & politics, listening to gospel music, & keeping his mind fresh with Sudoku & crossword puzzles. A firm believer in questioning authority (except his) he wouldn't accept a doctor's opinion without doing research on pills, medicine & spices that might help. He was a fascinating man, a force to be reckoned with and is already severely missed. He was called home on 01/18/15, following Nancy by only 51 days, leaving to grieve: Diana (Tom) Gilbertson, Danita (Mike) Gruber, Brian (Carolle) Duncan, Mark (Julie) Hepworth, Jessica (Doug BeCraft) Gilbertson, Nick Gilbertson, Marissa (Konrad) Korth, Kyler Korth, and extended family & friends.
