Geraldine I. Schemel

Geraldine I. Schemel, 83, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Monday evening, April 10, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 3, 1940 in Le Claire, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Elsie (Slaby) Seibel. Geraldine married the love of her life, LaVern E. Schemel on October 8, 1960. She was a jack of all trades; working various jobs throughout her life. Geraldine retired from Anderson Packaging. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, gardening and shopping. Most of all, Geraldine adored her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Geraldine is loved and missed by her daughters, Kathy Clark and Kelly Cannella; grandchildren, Josh Clark, Thomas Cannella, Jr., Kyle (Sue) Clark, Carrie Clark and Toni Cannella; step-grandchildren, Heidi Schemel and April Brush; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Emily, Kylee, Jayden, Madison and Ella; step-great-grandchildren, Hannah, Corben, Alex, Camry, Eli, Tessa and Alyssa; sisters, Nancy Spragg and Betty Peckenschneider; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LaVern, siblings Raymond Semmler, Donald Seibel, Evelyn Reynolds, Dorothy Housley, Lois Connell and Mary Parks.
