Harold P. Russell, 100, of Eldridge, IA, passed away Wednesday September 22, 2021 with family at his side. Harold was born in Ohio, IL on October 14, 1920, the son of Joseph T. and Helena A. (Cecil) Russell. He married Margaret A. Young in 1949 and she preceded him in 1990, he then married Lois M. Garrison in 1992 and she preceded him in 2014. Harold was a WWII Army Veteran. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church in Portage, IN. He loved woodworking; square dancing, cribbage, reading books and listening to books and was an avid history buff. Harold is survived by his son: Thomas (Linda) Russell; step-sons: Bruce (Carolyn) Garrison and Brent (Maggie) Garrison; grandchildren: Lynn (Michael) Kennedy and Timothy (Tara) Russell; great-grandchildren: Madelynn, J.J., Hunter, Chancelor and Lorelai; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, brothers and sisters.
The family would like to extend a "special thanks" to Heartland Hospice and the Nursing Staff at Grand Haven Senior Center for their loving care of Harold.
Graveside services to celebrate Harold’s life will be 3:00 PM Wednesday September 29, 2021 at Willwood Cemetery 7000 West State Street in Rockford, IL. Advantage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
