Janet R. Zweep, 91, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on May 20, 2022. She was born in Rockford, IL on May 23, 1930 to Irving and Ramona (Winkelpleck) Mead. Janet graduated from West High School. She married Donald Zweep in February of 1952 and together they raised 5 wonderful children. Janet loved bowling, doing yard work and going to horse shows with her husband. She was a wonderful baker and passed that passion down to her daughter and grand daughter. Janet was a huge sports fan, with her favorites being the Cubs, Bears, and the Bulls. She enjoyed working in her yard and feeding the animals. Janet was a lover of all types of animals. Her biggest passion in life was taking care of her kids. Family was very important to Janet, she was a very kind and loving person. Janet will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Janet is survived by her children, Mona (Richard) Penticoff, Debra (Randy) Spillare, Jim (Cheri) Zweep and Bob Zweep; her grandchildren, Julie (John) Murgatroyd, Jason (Kim) Penticoff, Staci (Chris) Macias, Seth (Jordan) Spillare, Zachary (Josephine) Zweep and Dylan (Katie) Zweep; her great grandchildren, Hartlee, Jeffery, Devan, Gabe, Megan, Andrew and Clara; her niece, Jeanette Whitman; and her loving furry companion, Beau. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; her son, Greg; her great grandson, Marcus and her sister, Barbara.

Funeral Service for Janet will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 West State St., Rockford, IL 61102. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the start of service. Burial to follow in Willwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Janet’s name to Mercy Hospice.
