Jeffrey Andrew Boersma, age 66, of Belvidere, Illinois died on November 18th, 2022, at home surrounded by family following a lengthy illness. Jeff was born in Belvidere to Donald and Harriett Boersma and was a 1974 graduate of Marengo Community High School. Jeff married Glory Davis in 1976 and settled in the Rockford area where he was employed in the meat department at local Highlander grocery stores for over 35 years.
Jeff is survived by his wife Glory; his three children, Emily (Aaron) McCallen, Eleanor Boersma, and Scott Boersma; and his three grandchildren, Rosalee Boersma, Donald Boersma, and Warren McCallen who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Brian (Roxanne) Boersma, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and by his brothers Terry (Jill) Boersma and Randy (Patti) Boersma.
Jeff was a talented cook and baker. During retirement, he volunteered at Miss Carly's in Rockford helping feed hungry people three days a week. When Covid-19 closed the kitchen, Jeff gave rides to Amish neighbors near his happy place - the family's vacation cabin in Readstown, Wisconsin. Jeff made friends everywhere he went, despite being born with a serious hearing loss. He leaves the world a little less bright with his departure.
The family sends a special thanks to Serenity Hospice and nurse April Foster who took amazing care of Jeff during his final months.
A celebration of Jeff's life will be held at Swanhills Golf Course, 2600 Gustafson Road, Belvidere on Saturday, December 3rd from 4-8 pm. Following an opportunity to offer condolences to the family, dinner will be offered at 6:00 pm, and Pam Rossmiller, friend and pastor, will present a eulogy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Miss Carly's in Rockford or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
