Karen F. Metras, 79, of Rockford, formally of Pecatonica passed away peacefully on December 25, 2020. Born February 10, 1941 in Freeport, IL. Daughter of Marvin and Cecile (Knorr) Burd. Karen was raised on a farm in rural Rockford and graduated from Winnebago High School. United in marriage to James Robert Metras on May 7, 1960 in Memorial Baptist Church. Karen was employed throughout the years at Sears in the retail department, Warner Lambert and also did house cleaning. Karen found enjoyment in baking especially when it came to pies and desserts, tending to and arranging flowers and anytime spent with her family especially the grandchildren. Karen was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church and then Morning Star Church. She loved to read God’s word and pray.
Survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James; children, Brad (Helene). Lori (Max) Coulthard, Rob (Denise), Chris (Margaret), Steve (Kristin); 20 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Julie Ascher and Kathy (Steve) Johnson; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; brother-in-law, Gene Ascher.
Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30 at Morning Star Church, 5500 Newburg Rd, Rockford. Visitation at noon until time of service.
