Lucy Wolfe – Much loved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Lucy was born in Ontonagon, MI on October 24, 1948 and married Terry Wolfe on December 20, 1969. She is survived by her children; Scott and Laura and her grandson Gaige; mother, Marjorie, siblings; George, Ken, John, Ed, Bonnie and Edna along with several other relatives and friends. Lucy was employed by Aramark Uniform Services for over 27 years; she worked in several different departments over those years. She loved all animals; especially horses and dogs; and she would always take care of the “strays” that found their way to her home. Lucy really enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, and more recently metal detecting with her son Scott; she really liked when she found gold or silver rings! Lucy also enjoyed crocheting, and she loved to make blankets, hats, and other projects to give to her friends and family. Most of all, Lucy loved spending time with her family, no matter what we were doing, it was always more fun when we were together. Lucy loved being a grandmother very much, and she was very proud of Gaige. She was never shy about speaking her mind, and proved the saying “dynamite comes in small packages.” Lucy had a great sense of humor as well as a sarcastic side to her – those who took a just a moment to get to know her grew to love her. She went out and got her driver’s license at the age of 58 and really enjoyed the freedom that gave her. Lucy was very private about her illness, but she fought very hard and did everything she could to stay with us as long as she could. She was the strongest woman I have ever known, and she was the best mother a person could ever have. She will leave a huge hole in our lives, but we are so thankful for the time that we had with her. Predeceased by father George; daughter, Michelle and husband, Terry.,
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Lucy’s life will be Saturday December 13, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Advantage Funeral and Cremation 7000 W. State St. in Rockford. Condolences may be sent to www.advantagerockford.com
