Marlene Alice Cox, 82, avid reader, gardener, guitar teacher, artist, loving mom and grandma, died Friday, June 24, 2016. Born in Rockford, Il on May 22, 1934, to Myron and Ethel (Malone) Weeks. In 1983 she married Charles Cox. Marlene worked for Pierce Packaging. She enjoyed the comfort of a good book, especially author Nora Roberts, she passed on her love of reading to her grandchildren. She appreciated and recited much of Hollywood history. Marlene would showcase her musical talents, playing the guitar and traveling to radio stations to perform and later teaching guitar. She enjoyed drawing and was knowledgeably to every species of flowers.
Survivors: children, Michael, Todd (Mary),Rodney, David McHenry and Dawn Hill; grandchildren, Jason Hill, Kelly Erwin, Thomas, Matthew, Colice and Brianna McHenry; sister Violet (George) Schrum. Predeceased by parents; grandson, Aaron McHenry.
