

Rhoda H. Hanson (Dora) of Rockford passed away April 28, 2010 surrounded by her family after a spirited battle with Alzheimer’s’ Disease. Born April 23, 1922 in Hurley, Wisconsin to William and Ida (Bray) Wills. Married her love Carl R. Hanson (Punky) June 24, 1944; preceded in death August 18, 1981. Graduate of Hurley High class of 1940. Employed by the Testor Corporation, then a stay at home mom returning to work at the first Rockford McDonalds in 1970 before resuming and finishing her career at Testors. She was a dedicated community volunteer, a traveler throughout Europe and the U.S. with family and friends, an avid Cubs Fan, long time member with “The Girls” in card club, an accomplished league bowler who until the age of 85 bowled weekly with her senior friends and special partner Robert. Always quick with a smile and a laugh, she leaves us to celebrate and cherish joyful memories; son, Don R. (Kari Underwood) Hanson: granddaughters, Ashley L. Hanson, Kayleigh R. (Michael Livingston) Hanson; great grandson, Kadyn; grandchildren, Eddie and Allison Olson; sister, Ruth Jobe; dearest sister in-law, Edna Podeszwa; many nieces and nephews and special friends Robert Schwartz and Pat Zawlocki. Predeceased by brothers, William Wills and Leonard Wills; sisters, Rachael Hansen, Eleanor Negri, and Violet Stela. In lieu of flowers donations to the family for a memorial to be established. Services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 4055 N. Rockton Ave. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial in Willwood Burial Park.
