Shane W. Smith

Shane William Smith, 54, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 25, 2024, with his loving girlfriend Lori Sullivan by his side. Shane was born May 25, 1970, in Iowa City, Iowa. He attended Jefferson High School, and more recently furthered his education at Rock Valley College. Through the years Shane worked at Estwing, as well as becoming a general manager at Buffalo Wild Wings, and currently was a supervisor at Woodward. Shane often thought out of the box, making his importance at work well known and appreciated. He was a loyal worker, as he was always on time and never called in. In his spare time, Shane was a handyman, and he enjoyed the challenges it presented. He was extremely creative in his solutions. Shane also simply loved being social with his time working on projects, so much so, that it was more of a hobby than work. Shane also loved fishing and golfing in the area.

Shane is survived by his mother, Sherry Wilson; children, Shane Smith, Carter Smith, and Aleigha Smith; siblings, Lorenzo Smith and Angie Wilson; aunts and uncles, Donna (Ed) Brudnowski, Nick and (Debbie “Pumpkin”) Wilson, Lloyd (Gloria) Smith of Nebraska; other aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Wilson Jr.
