

Theodore (Ted) Earl Raab, 72, of Machesney Park, Il. Passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 22, 1948 in Freeport, Il to Marshall and Helen Raab. He graduated from Stockton High School in 1966. Ted married Carol Anne Beal at the Pleasant Valley Church of God on July 16, 1966. They were married 54 years.
Ted enjoyed hunting, archery, fishing, golf, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
He spent many of his younger years working in factories. He then began serving area communities by working in Public Works departments. He said digging was his favorite. Ted and Carol at one point owned and ran a Sunoco gas station and most recently an expediting company in which Ted drove all over the country for FedEx Custom Critical and others.
Ted was recognized in 1996 by the Forreston Lions Club for his life saving rescue of a person from the Rock River. He was respected and well loved by his coworkers and employees.
Ted is survived by his wife Carol, daughters Terri (Eric) Pilson of Blue Eye, Mo., Tammy (Craig Larson) Acevedo of Rochelle, Il. Honorary daughter Caren Coffman, of Rockford, Il. Grandchildren: Lacea (Ray) Schroeder, Javier Acevedo, Emma Hamilton, Eleasah (Thomas) Reynolds, Gage Pilson, Brandan Pilson, Brandon Pilson, Jordan Pilson, Tiffany Holmes, Craig Larson, Jr, Patrick Larson, and Chance Larson. Great Grandchildren: Javier Acevedo, Jr. Adam Acevedo, Raymond Schroeder, Jr. Cathryn Schroeder, Ezra Reynolds, Zeruiah Reynolds, Michael Holmes and Amara Larson. His mother, Helen Raab. Siblings John (Josie) Raab, Sister in law Beverly Raab, Marsha (Gary) Larson, Randy (Tonya) Raab. Mothers in law Ann Woodrum and Bernece Hill. Siblings in law Charles (LouAnn) Woodrum, Jr, Jerry Woodrum, Bonnie (Mike) Townsend, Carol Chunn, Cheryl Kline, Harriet (Randy) Woker, many cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and close friends, Mark Rust, Ed Delisi and Martha Liptow.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marshall Raab, brother, Calvin Raab, Fathers in law Charles Woodrum, Harry Beal, and Herbert Hill, sister in law and brother in law, Robert and Rebecca Long and best friend and fishing buddy, Dan Coffman. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to living and medical expenses.
Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 West State St, Rockford. Visitation at 10 a.m. until time of service.
