Vanessa was born in Rockford to Charles and Daphine Morgan. Vanessa worked mostly as a medical secretary throughout the years. Vanessa was very involved in ministry for much of her adult life. She followed where she felt the Lord was leading her and her family including Cape Coral, Florida, Beloit, Wisconsin and back home to Rockford, IL. Later in life she fell in love with and moved to Nashville, TN where she loved listening and dancing to live music. Vanessa also loved to stay active. Hiking became one of her favorite activities. She lived and felt younger than her years, as well as being young at heart. In addition, Vanessa loved taking the time to do a good puzzle. She also spent time in Florida, particularly enjoying the beaches. Above all else, Vanessa loved her grandchildren dearly. She always looked forward to visiting them and taking them shopping.
She is survived by her daughters, Lori Martin and Jennifer (Rich) Wessel; grandchildren, Ella Morgan, Eden, Riley, and Keith; siblings, Regina Foster, Susan Shamuluas, and Richard Morgan; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; sister-in-law and bestfriend, Susan Hutsell, followed by several lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Ricky Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock House Kids in Vanessa’s honor.
