Virginia L. “Tootie” Taylor, 85, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, January 21, 2019 at Generations in Byron surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 1, 1933 in Mount Carroll, IL, the daughter of Elmer D. and Lucille W. (Haas) Bowman. Tootie married the love of her life, James T. Taylor on April 19, 1951. Tootie worked at Barber-Colman and was infamously known as the Toy Lady at Farm and Fleet. She loved a clean house, and was very meticulous. Tootie enjoyed puzzles, collecting dolls and Santa Clause figurines. She and Dad loved to travel. Tootie enjoyed going to Vegas to gamble.
Tootie is loved and missed by her children, Butch (Christine) Taylor, Renee Geddes, Becky (Jack) Warner, Deedee (Phil) Cancelose, Kellie (Larry) Walsh, and Lisa (Ike) Trickie; grandchildren, Melony, Michelle, Gina, Joshua, Lisa, Shana, Matthew, Nicole, Kip, Heather and Bradley; 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons; sisters, Jeannie Allen, Maxine Allabaugh, and Linda Tracey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim “Papa”, and sisters, sister and brother-in-laws.
