William “Greg” Wilson, 60, of Rockford, passed away from Lung cancer at Park Strathmoor Nursing Home on June 18, 2011. Born June 12, 1951 to William “Dude” and Vida “Toni” Wilson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1973. Graduated from Rock Valley College with an Associate’s degree in Quality Control Engineering. He was employed at Elco Tool Corp for many years and Hill Fastener Corp in Rockfalls for the remainder of his working career. He was a Bears Fan and an avid fisherman. His biggest fish was a 20ft Sail fish caught in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Greg had it stuffed, mounted and shipped home making it the more expensive than the vacation. He was a good friend to those who knew him and had a very kind soul and will be missed. Survived by his two children Graham Wilson and Shelly Wilson of Denver CO. Grandchildren, Evan Conti of Denver and Nicholas and Lauren Wilson; sisters, Sue (Al) Gabel, Cindy (Art) Nemmers and Deborah Richardson of Cape Coral, FL and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and nephew, Tony Gabel. A memorial gathering will be held from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 7000 W.
