1945-2021
Colin Basil Philbrick, 76, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 at his home in the arms of his loving wife.
He was born May 21, 1945 in Mexico, Me. The son of Joseph and Carleen (Spaulding) Philbrick. Colin graduated from Mexico High School class of 1965.
For many years he worked for the Rumford mill in many departments, and retired from the maintenance department where, like always, he was loved by all.
Colin was happiest when spending time with his family. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grand children was immeasurable. He was often seen with a big smile on his face and a grandchild sitting in his lap. He worked hard to keep smiles on all of his family’s faces no matter how he was feeling. From providing a beautiful camp on Webb Lake for 30 years, to buying a motorhome and taking them all camping as often as he could. Many weekends were spent at Mt. Blue State Park in the summertime, as well as the annual trip to Gilford, NH for Soulfest that he always knew made his wife the happiest. For years he enjoyed attending Nascar races at Loudon, as well as taking many trips to South Carolina to visit his family. He also enjoyed laugh-filled get togethers at his daughters house where there was lots of love and a delicious meal to go around.
A very proud member of the Republican Party, Colin loved politics and watching fox news with his wife every day. He was an avid Trump fan and was looking forward to voting for him and hopefully seeing him win the 2024 election. Colin’s political stance was based off his religious values. He was baptized in front of his camp in Webb Lake many years ago. The night before he passed away he took to the Bible to read First John 1:1 with his wife by his side. His loved ones look forward to seeing him again someday in heaven.
He will always be remembered by his family for his unconditional love, work ethic, his big warm hands and hugs, contagious smile, and they way he would open his home to anyone in their time of need.
He Is survived by his beloved wife, Jean (Belskis) Philbrick; a daughter, Deirdra Gallant and husband Ned Sattabongkok; two sons, Brett Philbrick, and Colin Philbrick Jr. and wife Ellen Philbrick; two sisters Betty Salatino and husband James, Joleen Treadwell and husband Harvey; Grandchildren Ryan Philbrick, Barry Gallant and partner Chelsea Andrews, Caitlin Gallant and fiancé Joseph Provencher, Colin Philbrick III, Christopher Philbrick, Zachary Bennett, Brady Philbrick, Cameron Philbrick, Xavier Philbrick, and Zander Philbrick; great-grandchildren Adalyn Gallant and Bence Provencher.
Colin was predeceased by his parents, sister Janice Dolloff, and grand daughter Aleah Thibodeau.
Visitation will be from 1-3pm Thursday December 30th at the S G Thibault Funeral home, 250 Penobscot St, Rumford. A funeral service will follow at 3 pm at the funeral home.
