Heidi K. Brennick (Waterhouse) passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026. She was born on March 27, 1987, in Rumford, Maine, to Joseph Waterhouse and Kari Waterhouse (Knox), and was the youngest of three children. Heidi was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, educator, and friend.
Heidi attended SAD 43 schools and graduated from Mountain Valley High School in 2005. During her youth, she enjoyed dance lessons and played the clarinet in the school band. She also loved camping with friends and family throughout the state of Maine, creating memories that she cherished throughout her life.
Following high school, Heidi attended the University of Maine at Farmington, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary special education in 2009 and later a master’s degree in education in 2017. She was deeply involved in the special education program, which was one of the greatest passions of her life. In 2009, Heidi began her career as a special education teacher at Rumford Elementary School, where she excelled and became a respected leader within the special education department. She was a dedicated advocate for her students and took great pride in helping them succeed.
In June 2016, Heidi married her best friend, Chris Brennick. Together, they shared a life full of adventure and laughter. They enjoyed playing card and board games, taking day trips, camping trips and spending meaningful time with family and friends.
Family was at the heart of everything Heidi did, especially the time she spent with her nieces and nephews. She delighted in taking them to playgrounds, going out for ice cream, and giving thoughtful, meaningful gifts. Heidi was known as a wonderful gift-giver—always listening closely to what others needed and finding ways to brighten their lives with small, heartfelt gestures.
Heidi is survived by her loving husband, Chris Brennick; her mother, Kari Waterhouse; her brother, Josh Waterhouse, and his wife, Emily; her sister, Jill Smith, and her husband, Alex; her maternal grandmother, Nancy Knox; her uncles, David Waterhouse and Kevin Knox and his wife, Wanda; her aunts, Lisa Reid and her husband, Bob, and Kim Gregory and her husband, Leonard; her nieces and nephews, Ethan, Gabby, Fletcher, Addy, Luka, and Lindy; her father-in-law, Mike, and mother-in-law, Janet; her brother-in-law, Keith, and his wife, Briana; and countless cousins and close friends.
