

Louise graduated from Stevens High School in Rumford in 1960 before starting her career. She was a prominent and well-known business owner in the Rumford community. Louise owned the Rumford Lamp-Post for many years and was a real estate broker for her own business as well as Riverside Realty. She had a love for being a hairdresser and developed a large clientele through her business, House of Beauty.
Louise enjoyed Equine Dressage including competition and raising her own horses and boarding horses for others, as well as many snowmobiling trips locally or in the Rangeley area and waterskiing, specifically pyramid waterskiing at Worthley Pond. She was an amazing cook and baker, hosting many luncheons and dinners for family and friends including all the Thanksgiving feasts and Christmas family get togethers.
Louise married Stanwood Horne and in the early part of their marriage, she loved attending Stockcar racing to support and watch Stan win many competitions. She looked forward to their rides in their restored blue Ford Mustang and Ford Bronco.
She enjoyed gardening, feeding the backyard birds, decorating her homes, antique clothing, reading, and spent many years as a Red Hat Lady. Louise had a gift for talking and putting others at ease and listening to stories about their lives. She was very generous and would spend many days baking breads, yeast rolls, and other goodies and sharing them with family, friends and clients. She had a love for dogs and cats and had many pets throughout the years. She was a parishioner of St Athanasius Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents and brother Lawrence Lemay, she is predeceased by her son, David Lee Horne, her sisters, Claire Akers, June Lemay, and Rose Marie Casteel. Her in-laws, Hazel and Merrill Horne, Michael Horne, and Don Dakin. Nieces and nephews, Kaleigh (Horne) Gibson, Brian Casteel, and Timothy Casteel.
She is survived by her husband, Stanwood Roy Horne, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage as well as her daughter, Katherine A. Horne. Grandchildren, Eric E. Gamez, Nichole Peabbles and husband Preston, and Dakota Horne. Great grandchildren, Westin and Ivory Peabbles and David and Hunter Horne. Sister, Gail Dakin and brothers-in-law, Roger Akers, Barry Horne and wife Sandy.
Louise is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Edwood Akers, Michael Akers and wife Melissa, Lisa Henderson and husband Junior, Tami Hamel, Kirk Hamel, Denise Anderson and husband Terry, Dennis Casteel and wife Sue, Ross Horne, Christal (Horne) Partis and husband Dana, Travis Horne and wife Kerry, and her best friend Doreen Dupuis, as well as many long-standing friendships given her long life in the Rumford community.
A celebration of Louise’s life will be held at a later date.
