

Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Reese Potter, MD; stepmother of Pamela (Peter) Flaherty, Suzanne (Bill) McShane; cherished grandmother of Laila and Karim Mesli, Jonathan (Hannah) and David Flaherty, Ryan (Rachel) McShane, Katie (Brian) Tkach, Irene (Alan) Rathjen, Shannon (Garrett Miller) McShane; great-grandmother of Michael, Jenny and Danielle Kerksick, Reese and Connor McShane, Evan and Caroline Tkach, Hannah and William Rathjen, Truman and Graham Miller; beloved aunt of Jeanne North, Steve (Chris) Byrd, James Byrd, Donna McDowell.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Gertrude DeBolt, sisters Mildred and Gertrude, brother Joseph, stepdaughter Jennifer Potter (Amine) Mesli and stepson Tracy Potter.
Eleanor enjoyed a long and healthy life. She began her working life as a teacher, but spent the bulk of her career as an administrative assistant with the Veterans Administration. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, golfing, traveling and her many years of volunteering with the Barnes Hospital Auxiliary. Eleanor was active in Webster Groves Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, elder and faithful volunteer for several years. She was also active in the Women's Democratic Forum of St. Louis and took in many of the St. Louis area’s attractions including the symphony, speakers series, the Rep, and of course the Cardinals.
Eleanor was always appreciative of her friends and family. After the death of Dr. Potter she spent 17 years at Pacific Place in Webster Groves and enjoyed adding new friends to her long list of friendships.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 1 with visitation for family and friends beginning at 10 a.m. at Webster Groves Presbyterian Church, 45 W. Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves MO 63119. Interment was in Bellefontaine Cemetery March 29.
The family expresses appreciation to the many physicians, nurses, care givers and volunteers who shared their talents and compassion with Eleanor through the years, including those at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, Missouri Baptist Hospital, Laclede Groves senior living community and Lutheran Senior Services Hospice.
