

Carroll Lee “Bud” Smullen, 75, of Willards passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his home with his loved ones by his side after a 10 year battle with cancer. He was born October 11, 1942 to Ray and Iris Smullen in Wicomico County where he also attended school and graduated in 1961. Bud married Frances Culp (Frannie) in 1962 and was the father of Clint and Mark Smullen. He worked at Tri County Gas, Wayne Pump, and retired from Sears after 35 years. He bought his farm in 1978, raised chickens and learned to be a Jack of all trades. Bud was a loving and gentle person with a dry sense of humor and will be deeply and forever missed. He is survived by his wife, Frannie of 55 years; son, Clint (Gabrielle), son Mark, granddaughter Megan Rene Smullen, grandson Sidney Ray Smullen, great-granddaughters, LeAnna West and unborn due 12-27-2017; step granddaughter, Amanda Betts and step grandson Shane Betts. He leaves behind his dear sister, Deborah Gibson (Harley) and numerous cousins with a special connection to cousin Ronnie Smullen, nephew James Culp, III (Norma).Predeceased are parents Ray and Iris Smullen, brother Leslie Ray, grandson, Mark Zachary, special nephew Christopher Gibson, grandparents Charlie and Mae Smith and Arlie and Lula Smullen and many aunts and uncles, mother-in-law and father-in-law Jim and Viola Culp and brother-in-law Jimmy Culp, Jr. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11am at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening from 6pm-8pm at the funeral home.
