Don worked as an Electronic Engineer for over 40 years. He attended Salisbury University for 2 years and graduated from Capital Institute of Technology in 1961. He served 3 years in the Army and was assigned to an exhibit team for the Core of Engineers to travel, set up and maintain audiovisual equipment for display purposes. He then served 13 months in Korea with the Engineers as a special electrical device repairman. This job consisted of servicing mine detectors, sniper scopes, and electronic surveying equipment. He worked for 7 years as a draftsman and electronic technician at C.S.I. in the engineering department. He also worked many years at K&L Microwave designing and building microwave filters, designing artwork and making printed circuit boards. Don had a lifetime interest in clocks and timepieces. He enjoyed collecting and repairing antique clocks and was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors for over 40 years. He collected and restored antique phonographs and gramophones. He was an avid collector of pre-1940 78-rpm records of classic jazz and popular dance music. He enjoyed going to flea markets, yard sales, auctions, and working in his shop.
Don is survived by his sister, Nancy L. Catlin and her husband Kenneth Catlin of Severn, MD; a niece, Kara Leigh Moore and her husband Wayne Moore of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a nephew, Aaron C. Catlin and his wife Mary Kate Catlin of Glenville, PA and several grandnieces and nephews.
