Born on December 24, 1951, in Snow Hill, Maryland, Gary was the son of Joseph and Doris Trader. On December 11, 1970, he married the love of his life, Brenda A. Stigall, and together they recently celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Trader; his sons, Gary Trader II and his wife Amy, and Samuel Trader and his wife Marcy; his daughters, Paulena Sennett and her partner Brian, and Chastity Trader and her partner Erick; his granddaughter, Brittany Hitch, and her husband Keith, along with their children, Gary’s great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Carter, and Harlee; his granddaughters, Cameron, Layla, and Mia; and his grandsons, Joseph, Jacob, and Gabriel.
He is also survived by his brother, Michael Trader; his nephew, Michael; his wife, and their children; his niece, Stacy Trader, her husband, and their child; and Sharon Trader, the mother of Michael and Stacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Joseph Trader; his older brother, Ronald Trader; and his beloved grandson, Nicholas.
Gary worked for Moore’s Printing Company, then for the Daily Times Newspaper, and later for Burrough’s Standard Register as a supervisor, where he ultimately retired. He belonged to several clubs, including the Lower Delaware Mustang Club, the Swamp Creek Muzzleloaders Club, and the Chapter 3 Red Knights Motorcycle Club, serving as Chaplain for over 20 years. Gary thoroughly enjoyed riding his motorcycle and loved sharing stories from his travels through 48 of the U.S. states.
During his first cross-country trip on his motorcycle, Gary found God, a moment that deeply shaped the rest of his life. He devoted much of his time to attending church, participating in Bible studies, and giving back to his community, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Gary will be remembered for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, unwavering faith, and the love he poured into his family and friends. “Big Daddy” will be truly missed by many and will forever be in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held on February 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM at God’s Missionary Church, 29436 Connelly Mill Rd, Delmar, MD 21875. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to God’s Missionary Church in honor of Big Daddy.
