Following high school, he was very proud of his service to our country in the Navy working as an E-9 Master Chief Petty Officer and an engineer, which he did for 22 years. John loved working on cars, fishing, guns, camping, spending time with his Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, and was an excellent wood worker. A highlight in his retirement was travelling to remote locations on his Harley, north of the North Pole, and working at campgrounds in Alaska and Montana.
He is survived by his three children; Tonya Combs and her husband, David, Chris Hudson and his wife, Christine, and Wendy Toppa and her husband, Tony; three grandchildren, Meghan, Aaron, and Jessie; siblings, Dave Hudson and Deane Bradley; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Marie Hudson.
