

Salisbury: Joseph Henri Perdue passed on New Year’s Day 2016 after a multi-year journey with many medical problems. He will be remembered as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, firefighter, and friend. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 22, 1952, he was the son of the late Lewis and Ella Perdue. Joe grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He married Georgia Yost on April 2, 1995. Joe worked for the fire service for over thirty years, first as a volunteer with West Side Fire Department and then joined the City of Salisbury where he achieved the rank of Captain before his retirement in 2000. During his time as a firefighter, he also became an Instructor with the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute- University of Maryland teaching all over the State of Maryland. In retirement, Joe was very active in the community with Tony Tank Tribe 149 Improved Order of Red Men, Wicomico Lodge #91 AF & AM, Women Supporting Women, and the Civil War Battlefield Trust. Joe enjoyed the shooting sports and was a diehard Washington Capitals Fan. Joe is survived by his wife, Georgia; son, Cory Perdue and wife, Sivan; one grandson, Calder Perdue; two sisters, Juanita Homer and husband Sam, Jeannette Taylor and husband Jim; one brother, Lewis Perdue and wife Tish Rumsey; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Joe was a faithful friend, husband, father, brother, and proud firefighter; Honored to serve and teach, quick with a joke or helping hand. He will be remembered in our stories and carried in our hearts. A Service of Remembrance to honor Joe’s life will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Bounds Funeral Home, 705 East Main Street, Salisbury, MD 21804. Family will receive friends from 2-4 PM prior to the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the following organizations in Joe’s honor, Shriners Children Hospital, The Civil War Trust, and/or the American Cancer Society.
