Linda Carol Hooper Bounds, 79, of Salisbury passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 23. Born April 7, 1946, in Salisbury, MD, she was the daughter of the late William Allen Hooper, Jr. and Florence Cox Hooper.
Linda graduated from Wicomico High School majoring in cosmetology. She worked at Mary Lou’s and later opened her own shop at her house. For over 30 years she worked at Bounds Funeral Home “doing hair” but was mostly recognized when you came through the funeral home door you would hear her say, “Would you like to sign the book?” This is a job she reluctantly had to retire from in early 2026. Linda loved her family and her grandchildren were her heart. Since they were able to talk Brooke and Noah would call and talk to her on the phone every night before going to bed. All her stories about them always started with they said, “Mom Mom…” She always looked forward to seeing everyone each year at the family reunion. Linda was a straight shooter telling you how it was. After moving to the Cottages, she enjoyed volunteering at the community center and decorating the center for each holiday. She also looked forward to growing as many plants as possible on her patio and then sharing their beauty with her neighbors as they would sit out each night and visit. She would continuously go out of her way to make sure her friends were taken care of and had a smile on their face. Once she got ill, they came to visit her in return just like she had always done for others.
She is survived by her son, Bruce L. Bounds, Jr. and his wife, Erica; a granddaughter, Brooke, and a grandson, Noah; sisters-in-law, Joyce Hooper and Betty Ann Bounds; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Barbara Bounds; her former husband, Bruce L. Bounds, Sr.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles E. Hooper – 2009, a sister, Betty Ann Cooper – 2013, and most recently the last living sibling, William A. Hooper III – 2026.
A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 11am at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Her friend and coworker, Pastor Ernie Bailey will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Linda to your local American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Linda was a two-time breast cancer survivor and looked forward to walking in the Relay for Life event every year with her family.
