Clara Louise (nee Frear) Baylis passed peacefully in her Rehoboth Beach family home on November 24, 2019. Lou, born in Dover Delaware on November 15, 1942, was the daughter of Senator J. Allen and Esther Schauer Frear. Lou attended Dover High School and Florida State University. She was an active member of Kappa Delta and a favorite among her sorority Gals. Following college she resided in Geneva, Switzerland with the “Geneva Girls”. Lou met the love of her life “Junior Beam” while summering in Rehoboth Beach and became his “Bride”. Lou and Junior resided happily together in their Pinewater Farm, Harbeson, Delaware home for many years. Lou worked at Mae Hall McCabe in Rehoboth, organizing and keeping the office on task. Junior and Lou wintered in Marathon, then retired to Landmark in Naples, Florida amongst friends.
Lou was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Bonita Springs, Florida and a faithful volunteer at PennyWise Thrift Shop.
Lou was a devoted volunteer and Patron of the Dolphin Resource Center in Grassy Key Florida, spending many hours in the service of her beloved Dolphins.
Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband Junior in 2010. She is survived by her brother Fred Frear, nieces Leanne Frear Towner and Marla Frear, nephews Dallas Towner, David Allen Towner and Joseph Allen Frear III, step-daughters Jill Baylis, Jan Moore (Shawn), grandchildren Liam Moore, Olivia Moore and companion Tommy Golt.
Her many friends and adorers were surrounding her until her departure with their love and support.
A service honoring the wonderful life of our dear Lou will be held in Naples, Florida and Rehoboth, Delaware at a future date.
