Patricia Hipe Mitchell, 64, of Nanticoke passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Commonwealth Senior Living. Born August 27, 1957 in Lexington, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late George and Mariba Hipe.
Pat attended Texas Lutheran University for 2 years where she met her husband, Donald Carl Mitchell of 44 years. She studied at the University of Texas for one year and then married “Donny” in 1978 in Austin, Texas. After raising her 3 children to school age she finished her degree and graduated from Salisbury University.
Pat was baptized in the San Marcos River in 1979. From that time on, her life was dedicated to serving others. She taught the children in every church she attended in Texas and Maryland for over 35 years. As a pastor’s wife, she directed the children’s and women’s ministries at Calvary Chapel here in Salisbury for many years. Pat also was a keynote speaker at Women’s Conferences all over the east coast. She loved to sing to the Lord. Her last job was as a substitute teacher with the Wicomico County Board of Education. Pat was a people person and was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 wife and mother. Her children and husband called her “blessed”. During her last days she would say “I just want to go home (to Jesus)”.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Donald Carl Mitchell; three children, Joshua Aaron Mitchell and his wife Tiffany, Sarah Marie Carlynn Robins, and Elise Donielle Goad and her husband Bryan; eight grandchildren, Josiah and Jayda-Mae Mitchell, Ariana, Lyla, and Karis Robins, and Micah, Joanna, and Levi Goad; brother, Steven Hipe and his wife Tracy; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Suzanne King and brother-in-law, Lanny King.
A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11 am at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Pastor Rick Plantholt and Pastor Donald Blad will officiate.
Donations may be made in memory of Pat to Calvary Chapel Ocean Gateway, PO Box 1831, Salisbury, MD 21802. Proceeds will be donated to her favorite charitable organizations.
