Ralph "Mitch" Mitchell Rayne Jr.

Ralph Mitchell “Mitch” Rayne, Jr. 74, of Whaleyville passed away Friday, January 31, 2025 at TidalHealth in Salisbury. Born June 30, 1950 in Willards he was the son of the late Ralph Mitchell Rayne, Sr. and Ethel Collins Rayne.

Mitch worked in the Poultry industry as Flock Supervisor. He played slow pitch softball for Orange Julius and Hickman’s and enjoyed watching baseball, football and NASCAR. He was an animal lover and an avid seafood lover who enjoyed steaming oysters and crabs. He could be seen cutting his grass almost every day.

He is survived by his loving family, his brother, Maurice Rayne; nieces and nephews, Debra Cooper (Donnie), Cynthia Walston, EC Jones, Laura Gaylor (Mike), Maury Rayne (Julie); great-nieces and great-nephews, Lindsay and Spencer Gaylor and Zoe and Colby Rayne. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward “Ike” Jones and his wife Sylvia.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 11am at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Willards. Rev. Paul Sherwood will officiate. Please dress casual. That would be how Mitch would have wanted it!!!!
