Randal Scott NeSmith, 40, passed away on December 29, 2022, at his home in Princess Anne, MD, following a long and courageous four-and-a-half-year battle with neuroendocrine cancer. Born on September 22, 1982, he was the son of William and Nancy NeSmith. Randy was employed at Eastern Correctional Institute as a CO and a member of the Tactical Team from 2011 to 2018. After being diagnosed with cancer in April 2018, he changed careers to manage Salisbury Scrap Metal as an employee of Smith Industries. He flourished there and loved to work outdoors while continually learning new things for himself and passing on his knowledge to others.
Randy was a loving husband and father of five children. He had a strong sense of helping others, both physically and spiritually. He lived his life in a manner that portrayed his love for and faith in God. As a member of Oak Ridge Church, he served on the security team while helping out wherever needed. A man well-liked by all, he never met a stranger. With a keen sense of intuition and the ability to read people very well, he always seemed to know what to say to encourage others. He had strong family values and did his best to provide for not only his family but his friends as well. He was always a giver, never looking at what he could gain for himself but at how he could help others.
He is survived by his wife, Karina; their children, Raelynne, Macy, Eli, Randy, and Jaxon NeSmith; a granddaughter, Wrenleigh Smith; his parents, Nancy (Jerry) Meyers and William (Christine) NeSmith; siblings, Ryan W. (Cathleen) NeSmith and JoAnna L. NeSmith; step-siblings, Patrick Meyers, Jennifer (Steven) Dubbs, Alyssa (Todd) Wisner, and Mark (Jessica) Grossman; a very close cousin, Roger (Jeanne) Christian; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert E. and Dorothy Bowling Hortie, W. Charlene Eveland, and an uncle, William H. Hortie.
Memorial services will be held at Oak Ridge Church, 361 Tilghman Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804, on January 14, 2023, from 3 to 6 p.m. Visit www.boundsfuneralhome.com to share stories and memories with the family.
