Stuart D. Nelson 78, of Salisbury passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2022 at his home. Born March 5, 1944 in Salisbury he was the son of the late John and Eloise Nelson. With a passion for flying at a young age, he was a Captain of the Civil Air Patrol at the age of 16 and obtained his solo pilots license at the age of 17. He started basic training in San Antonio, Texas with the United States Air Force and had the rank of Air Man 3rd Class eventually serving in Plattsburg, NY on a bomber base and flew maintenance flight and did navigation and ran radar for B52 bombers. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force he worked for NCR in Salisbury, Maryland for 35 years and was a top engineer tech until his early retirement to enjoy his pastimes of sailing, flying, riding motorcycles.
He is survived by his son, Robert D. Nelson; two grandchildren, Olivia C. Nelson and Skylar M. Nelson; two sisters, Carolyn Ryan and Jan Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
