William “Bill” Collins Mumford, III, 81, of Salisbury died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Chesconessex, VA he was the son of the late Benjamin Thomas Mumford and Novella Mae Dize Mumford. Bill worked in construction all of his life and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Irene K, Mumford; four children, William C. Mumford, IV, Ben Mumford, Randy Mumford, and David Mumford; stepson, Terry Clark; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Mumford and sister, Jacqueline Houlibyck. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1PM at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. Rev. J. Harvey Dixon will officiate.
