

Adela G. “Della” Parrilla entered eternal rest on April 8, 2016 at the age of 90. A native of San Antonio, Texas, she was born to Maximo and Hilaria Garza on September 6, 1925; she now reunites with her parents; husband, SFC Ret. Jesse A. Parrilla; siblings: Joe Garza, Antonio Gomez, Johnny Garza, Vera Arriaga; and sister-in-law, Dora Garza. She is survived by her children: Susie (Albert) Litterio, Jesse (Rosie) Parrilla, Irma Huerta, Max (Dina) Parrilla, Nancy Parrilla; grandchildren: Michele (Jose) Barrios, Albert Anthony (Stephanie) Litterio, Jennifer (Lionel) Gonzalez, Tracy (Gabriel) Oviedo, Catherine (Dodi Favors) Acevedo, Samantha (Jeffery) Suarez, Patrick Christopher (Crystal) Huerta, Max Devon Parrilla, Cazzandra Anel, Nichol (Joe John) Mata, Jackie Parrilla, Jessica (Brian) Hernandez; great-grandchildren: Deric Michael, Danielle Monique (Adam) Fricke, Annika Reve, Marina Mia, Anneliese Reina, Ryan Michael, Emma Rose, Ian Andrew, Alyson Victoria, Dylan Patrick, Alexandra Samantha, Michael Joseph, Jazmin, Micaella Aurora, Daniel Alexander, Adam Marcus; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Rae; brothers, Gaitano Garza and Jesse (Terry) Garza; and numerous other relatives and friends. Adela was a long time employee of Bexar County Hospital and La Mansion Hotel. She will be remembered as “the life of the party” and always entertaining family and guests. She was known for her delicious meals, especially her special touch with tortillas, salsas, and steak rancheros. Adela also enjoyed going to the local bingos, dancing, and a cold margarita. Her most precious moments were spent surrounded by her family and those she loved. Her love and presence will be missed dearly by all who knew her. The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Jude Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations to CTRC are appreciated in Della’s memory.
